Join the Fantasy Grounds College in the month of January to participate in A Year of Alternate Rulesets: Mongoose Traveller 2E. The venerable tabletop RPG, originally published in 1977 by Game Designer’s Workshop, has been licensed and updated by Mongoose Publishing and available to play right now on Fantasy Grounds!
“A brand new edition of Traveller is now available – based on the original but tweaked, finessed and updated through a massive months-long beta playtest by you, the players! Every Traveller book is now printed in full colour and all core rulebooks and supplements are gorgeous hardbacks, fully updating this beloved game for the 21st Century. Traveller contains everything needed to play any science fiction campaign, from desperate battles across the stars against evil empires, through free traders operating on both sides of the law, to mercenary companies desperate to find their next ticket or face bankruptcy – Traveller gives you the tools to explore the universe in a way that suits you.” From the Publisher of the Traveller ruleset
The staff at the Fantasy Grounds College has designed a curriculum to introduce players and referees to the Traveller universe and game mechanics right on Fantasy Grounds. The following classes are now being offered:
MGT2 Character Creation 101
Learn how to go through the famed character creation process in Traveller. Students will roll through at least 3 terms of character development and careers.
MGT2 Referee 101
Referees will learn how to create game sessions for player connection, load modules and enable libraries, manage the Party Sheet, and gain proficiency in the player Combat Tracker all in Fantasy Grounds.
MGT2 Referee 102
Referees will build on skills learned in MGT2 Referee 101 and learn more about the Traveller universe and how to read UWP’s, use free online resources curated over decades by the Traveller player base and integrate them into Fantasy Grounds play, and learn the new High Huard expansion and Spaceship Combat Tracker in Traveller.
MGT2 One Shot Game
Come and play a game of Traveller firsthand. The introductory “Marches Adventure 1: High and Dry” will introduce players with a hands on learning experience.
MGT2 Symposium
The first symposium is a Q&A with Mongoose Publishing owner Matthew Sprange and Fantasy Grounds ruleset developer Mad Beard Man.
The second symposium is a Q&A with Mongoose Publishing owner Matthew Sprange and Fantasy Grounds College faculty member, Fantasy Grounds extension writer, and Travellers Aid Society (TAS) publisher Zane.
Attending either of our Symposiums will earn you an entry to win a physical copy of the Mongoose Traveller Core Rules. To enter, you must book a spot in the symposium and be in attendance to be counted for the drawing. Drop-ins will be allowed, but you will only be qualified for the drawing if you booked a spot ahead of time. These books are courtesy of Moongoose Publishing. This just added! (January 4, 2021) FGC’s Zane will be giving away a fantastic space map to one lucky attendee of his symposium which is scheduled for January 29th at 9pm UTC. The same rules apply as the contest above. To enter, you must book a spot in the symposium with Zane. He will talk about creating maps and draw a winner. A small sample of this map is pictured below.
